This line covers GL.iNet LTE/5G travel routers, from the untouched model to the one patched by our workshop with our maintained fork of blue-merle. blue-merle randomizes the IMEI on every SIM swap, mimics the MAC addresses of common vendors, and keeps client logs in volatile memory — they do not survive a power-off. The choice is between doing everything yourself, proven behaviour, or recent hardware at the price of the experimental.
The unpatched Mudi is sold intact: nothing is added by the workshop, which is why it is the cheapest — flash it yourself if you wish. The Mudi V2 blue-merle is our reference: hardware officially supported by blue-merle upstream, flashed and verified at the workshop (build with the luci-base dependency removed), with the SMS spools purged — they used to write IMEI/IMSI into every received message. The Mudi 7 brings 5G and Wi-Fi 7, but the blue-merle port is experimental there: the baseband differs from the official upstream, and behaviour is not guaranteed.
Legal warning, at the same weight as the rest: changing an IMEI is restricted or illegal in some jurisdictions (for example the Mobile Telephones (Re-programming) Act 2002 in the UK). Compliance is your responsibility. Furthermore, these routers do not encrypt storage and do not detect IMSI-catchers; the carrier still sees the IMSI and cell location.
